When the hundreds of people have taken their places on the white chairs, at the standing tables and in the grass, the extensive program of the day begins. “Utrecht participates in commemoration as it should be,” says Stacey Esajas in her opening speech. “We stand still, we commemorate, remember and name our ancestors. From Suriname, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba and Sint Eustatius.”
