A change in setting in Diablo 4 makes the game look much more stylish and realistic. A player demonstrates the trick and is enthusiastic about it. The trick is available to anyone who has a fairly recent Nvidia graphics card.
A gamer posted a video on Reddit where he shows how he opens the GeForce Experience overlay and changes a setting, with surprisingly big consequences:
While the game previously looked rather grey and lifeless, Diablo 4 has much richer colours and more powerful effects after the settings. The player himself explains that he cannot go back to the old settings.
Diablo 4 already received better graphics out of the box in early 2024:
Nvidia filters make free games look much better
What is behind the function? Behind the setting is a function called “NVIDIA Freestyle Filter”. This is an option that Nvidia has integrated into its GeForce Experience software and into the software’s overlay.
This allows you to apply various filters to your games directly in the game: For example, you can adjust color and saturation in the game without using the game settings themselves. You can find out which games are supported in an official list directly from Nvidia. But be careful: the list is very extensive.
Also practical: While some features, such as frame generation, are reserved for the new 4000 series graphics cards, the “NVIDIA Freestyle Filters” can also be used by older Nvidia GPUs, such as the popular GTX 1000 series.
This is what the change looks like for the user:
Is there also a disadvantage? Yes, because “NVIDIA Freestyle” does not work with competitor graphics cards, but that is not really surprising. AMD’s Adrenalin software also allows you to sharpen graphics or make custom color adjustments, but Nvidia’s options are definitely more extensive.
