According to Nielsen, a research company that calculates viewership figures, the sitting president Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump’s the debate was watched by around 51 million viewers.

During the 2020 presidential election, the first debate of the same candidates was watched by about 73 million viewers. The second debate attracted around 63 million viewers.
