Power outage in Malmö – explosion in switchgear

A major power outage has affected large parts of Malmö, according to Eon.

The fault must be a fire in a switchgear.

– There has been some kind of explosion in a switchgear and now there is going to be a fire there. We are there but can’t do much more than wait for Eon’s staff, says Patrik Nilsson, officer on duty at the South Rescue Service, to Sydsvenskan.

At a first stage, just after 11 p.m., roughly 16,000 households were affected. Closer to midnight, just under 10,000 households were without power.
