Helena Ekholm has been a popular expert in the Winter Studio.
But now the former biathlete is leaving SVT after a full six years.
And her new job has been revealed.
As an athlete was Helena Ekholm one of our top biathlon shooters of all time. She won three World Cup golds and took a total of eight medals in the context of the World Cup and won the overall World Cup in 2009.

Ekholm was also extremely popular and won both the Bragdguldet and the Jerring Prize at the Sports Gala. After her active career, she worked as a television expert for ten years, first for Viasat and then for SVT.

The Swede has become a real favorite in the TV box and has been part of the popular “Winterstudio” for six years. But on Thursday came the sudden announcement that Helena is disappearing from the television screen.
Ekholm’s new job
Now the truth is revealed about why she is leaving SVT. Helena Ekholm has accepted a new job with the Swedish Biathlon Federation.
– This feels like a very good recruitment for Swedish Biathlon. Helena’s professional background combined with her knowledge of biathlon both as an active and association leader makes her cut and ready for the new role.
There are several new and extensive projects that must be handled in order to create both activity and sporting joy in the entire biathlon movement. In parallel with these, Helena will also strengthen existing projects such as the Swedish premiere and the IBU Cup in Idre Fjäll, says the association’s general secretary Rikard Grip in a press release.

In recent years, Ekholm has run his own company in health and personal care, alongside the television broadcasts. Now she will run several development projects within the Swedish Biathlon Association.
– I have long wanted to work in Swedish Biathlon and when the chance now appeared, it felt like a perfect opportunity. I am really looking forward to working close to the sport that is closest to my heart and contributing to strengthening Swedish Biathlon, says Ekholm in the press release.

Helena Ekholm quits with immediate effect as a TV expert and takes up her new position with the biathlon association as of September 1.
