Tom and Bill Kaulitz have been world famous since their teenage years. The Tokio Hotel stars had their big breakthrough in the mid-2000s, but two decades later they are still doing well in the business. The Netflix documentary Kaulitz & Kaulitz was recently released, in which they provide private insights into their glamorous life in Hollywood.
During the filming, a absolute premiere: The otherwise shy Mama Kaulitz is in front of the camera for the first time and chats about her family. This is how the brothers were able to persuade their mother.

Despite their tender age of 34, the Kaulitz twins are old hands in show business. Since they conquered the charts almost 20 years ago with the mega hit “Durch den Monsun”, Tokio Hotel has been an integral part of the music scene. Bill and Tom have long since outgrown their rebellious teenage years, but fans remain loyal to the Leipzig natives – not least because the stars present themselves as self-confident and approachable.
This is even more surprising, that the mother of the two extroverted musicians is extremely shy Charlotte Trümper (56), who gave birth to her sons in 1989, has so far avoided the public eye. But for the new Netflix documentary Kaulitz & Kaulitz, Mama Kaulitz makes a huge exception. For the first time, she provides exclusive insights into family life and talks in interviews about the fact that she is a “very proud mom” be.

Trümper even accompanied Bill and Tom to the big premiere of the Netflix documentary in Berlin, but ultimately she didn’t dare go on the red carpet. As RTL reports, Mama Kaulitz sneaked in through the back entrance, to avoid the flashbulbs.
Bill doesn’t seem to be surprised. He knows exactly what makes his mother tick: “My mom is a shy little thing. So completely different from me.”

It seems to be no secret that Charlotte Trümper consciously withdraws from the media. As the mother of two world stars (and since 2019 also the mother-in-law of model mother Heidi Klum), she would have had the opportunity to appear in public long ago. She has Bill and Tom to thank for the fact that she is speaking openly for the first time 20 years after her sons’ breakthrough.
Tom admits in an interview that Mama Kaulitz told the twins never refuse a wish could: “If we asked for something, she would never say no.” Fans can count themselves lucky that mom Charlotte has spilled the beans. In Kaulitz & Kaulitz, the former teen idols are more private than ever.
The 8 episodes of the docu-soap can now be streamed on Netflix.
