With the help of new technical equipment, criminal gangs can hack your car key through a special signal. The signal blocks the possibility of locking the car, whereupon the perpetrators search your car for valuables.
Now police region Mitt warns of foreign networks that specialize in just this.
“The crimes usually take place in large parking lots outside major shopping centers and are difficult for the public to detect as no visible tools or the like need to be used to open the car door,” the police write on their website.
“Don’t just walk away”
It is common for car owners not to notice that they have lost something until much later, which makes it difficult to immediately suspect theft.
The police’s tip to prevent these thefts from happening is to check that the car is locked if you use the remote key.
