And now, dissolution! This second five-year term is definitely like no other. THE last reshuffle with Gabriel Attal at its head is already far away, European elections have barely ended when the president decides to call legislative elections.
More than ever, behind the scenes, some are learning to dodge tripping, others are familiarizing themselves with the art of conspiracy, in short, everyone is preparing for the post-Emmanuel Macron era with rigor and determination.
Haro on Séjourné
“Have you heard him doing morning shows? What has he done apart from chasing an elected official to take a golden constituency?” The ears of Stéphane Séjourné, secretary general of Renaissance, will be ringing a lot after the second round of the legislative elections. The party is accused of not having prepared anything before the dissolution and of not having managed to finance the candidates.
The little calculations of the RN
The RN will closely study the case of some constituencies where the withdrawal of its candidate after the first round would favor the victory of an LR candidate. On one condition: that he is willing not to censor a possible Bardella government.
Dati shows his teeth
In the 2nd district of Paris, Rachida Dati supports Jean Laussucq, while the outgoing deputy Gilles Le Gendre was not nominated by Renaissance. But this historic Macronist is encouraged, in videos, by personalities like Richard Ferrand or Yaël Braun-Pivet. As a result, an advisor to the Minister of Culture telephoned someone close to the President of the National Assembly: “You know, we know people at Jacques Myard (who faces Braun-Pivet in Yvelines)…” The conversation came up short.
Holland and the Perch
Like so many others, the leadership of the Socialist Party was very surprised to see François Hollande return to the forefront. If Olivier Faure and his close associates hardly hesitated to give him the investiture in Corrèze, today they are tormented by a question: what does François Hollande intend to do once elected deputy (if he is) on July 7? Candidate for Matignon, too? And in the PS, what will he do? A thousand and one questions cross the minds of those who, a few years ago, made an uncompromising “inventory” of Hollande’s five-year term.
The same people are making another bet: that François Hollande is interested in the presidency of the National Assembly, he represents the consensual figure of a hemicycle without a clear majority which would then be mistreated between the extreme right and part of the left bloc. A way for him to save an institution. Hollande au Perchoir? “It was never mentioned,” sweeps away those around him, annoyed that some are already talking about “the positions”: “That’s not the subject. It contrasts with the seriousness of the moment. His only compass is to be a figure of responsibility and appeasement.”
Who can save the council of ministers?
The next council of ministers, which could be the last of the Attal government, will be marked by a major prefectural movement. “It will be a little amplified,” confirms a minister. Already, this Wednesday, the number of appointments – around thirty – was not modest: it notably concerned three rectors and several military personnel. Cabinet appointments must be signed by both the president and the prime minister. During periods of cohabitation, they generate tensions and standoffs.
The survivors
“Those who return in July will be survivors”: the Macronist deputies of the next legislature will be more deputies than Macronists. Warning from one of them: “Even if a grand coalition is built, the president will be on Defense and Foreign Affairs, and above all, let him stay there!”
