  • Police are investigating the deaths at Northvolt

    The police are investigating possible connections between the three deaths at Northvolt in Skellefteå, the police write on their website.

    The investigations are classified as deaths without suspicion of crime and at the moment there is no suspicion of crime.

    However, there is uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of the deaths because it was not possible to get clear answers during the forensic examinations as to what caused the deaths of the persons.

  • Jan Emanuel: “The list of people is over”

    Jan Emanuel has applied to join the Social Democrats again, he reveals on Expressen’s stage in Almedalen.

    – The folk list as a larger movement is over.

    Folklistan invested heavily in winning votes in the EU elections, but in the end the party landed on 0.6 percent of the votes.

    There are a few local sections left of Folklistan but no more than that.

    The Green Party’s new spokesperson Daniel Helldén made his debut on Almedalen’s stage on Thursday.

    He began by talking about his own nature experiences as a child before he got into climate policy and energy solutions.

    – We must invest in renewables… sun, wind and water… We don’t have time to wait for a government that locks up billions of taxpayers’ money in unrealistic nuclear dreams.

    Helldén then raised the party’s proposal for reduced working hours – from a 40-hour working week to a four-day week.

    – Our entire society benefits from people being able to work until retirement, without being knocked out due to stress or harsh working conditions.

    Helldén also demanded more from Sweden during burning wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

    – Support to Ukraine must continue, our voice for the people of Gaza must be louder – and we must continue to support the work of peace organizations around the world.

    The Danish tax ministry is on fire, reports Ekstra bladet.

    A fire has broken out on the roof, Danish emergency services confirm to the newspaper.

    The extent of the fire is still unclear, but according to the newspaper’s reporter on the scene, flames and thick black smoke can be seen rising from the building.

    At 11.35, the Danish rescue service states that the fire is under control.

    Norway will receive patients from war-torn Gaza, announced Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap).

    In total, around 20 patients and their relatives can come to Norway to receive care at hospitals in the country.

    – Norway will participate in the international effort to help Palestinians who need treatment in hospital, he tells VG.

    The decision was taken after the World Health Organization asked Norway and other countries for help in a “very critical situation”, says Gahr Støre.

    The Green Party wants more forest owners to choose to move away from felling the forest through clear-cutting.

  • IAC files for bankruptcy – 1,400 affected

    The Swedish company IAC with around 1,400 employees is filing for bankruptcy, reports Ekot.

    The company is an important supplier to the Swedish automotive industry.

    At the end of last year, IAC had a tax debt of 1.2 billion – the highest amount of debt compared to other Swedish companies after the pandemic.

    The company has now filed for bankruptcy with the Gothenburg District Court, which Ekot has taken note of.

    Today at 09.30 the Riksbank will issue a new interest rate statement.

    The interest rate is left unchanged and remains at 3.75 percent.
