The Chinese clothing giant Shein has recently faced widespread criticism for a number of different things. It has become common knowledge that there are insufficient customer rights and lousy working conditions on the site.

Despite this, Shein sold clothes and accessories for around SEK 480 billion in 2023, according to figures from Dagens Industri. At the same time, the company has been valued at just over SEK 700 billion, which makes the company a competitor to other giants in the industry such as H&M.
Now, however, Shein has made perhaps Sweden’s most famous woman roar – Bianca Ingrosso.

Used images of Bianca Ingrosso without permission
In the spring of 2024, Shein began using an image of Bianca Ingrosso in its advertising, and in an ad depicting a one-shoulder dress, an old Instagram post of Ingrosso was used – without her permission.
This gave rise to Bianca taking legal action, something which News24 have written about before.

Now Shein has come out and apologized to Bianca Ingrosso, which Dagens Industri was the first to report on.
In an email response to the newspaper, the site wrote the following:
“We take the protection of intellectual property rights seriously, and immediately removed the image when it was brought to our attention. Bianca Ingrosso’s concerns are important to us and we will get back to her immediately.”
Despite the apology, the company has been sued several times for copyright infringement. Shein himself believes that they will continue to “improve” the work around intellectual property rights, writes DI.
