Constantly evolving, Google Messages is still improving with several welcome new features for managing contacts, such as the possibility of enlarging their profile photo or calling them more easily.
Installed as standard on most Android smartphones, Google Messages is gradually being refined in the hope of establishing itself as one of the most popular instant messengers. Known for its RCS protocol, it recently integrated dynamic reactions – a small animation is triggered when you react to a message using one of the ten most popular emojis –, vocal moods as well as sending animated self-portraits in messages with the Selfie GIF function, and it will soon be possible to modify a message after sending. Google continues its meticulous efforts and is preparing, this time, to bring some new features to the display of contacts and to add some shortcuts, according to information unearthed by specialists in 9to5google.
Google Messages: an interface that is being refined
From now on, you can enlarge a contact’s profile photo by tapping on it from the main list. This way it will be much larger than the version that appears in the “Details” view of Google Messages. If this is a conversation with multiple parties, the profile photos of several members will appear side by side.
Google also takes the opportunity to add three shortcuts just below the enlargement, in order to perform certain actions more quickly: “Message” opens the conversation to be able to send a message to the contact, “Call” immediately dials the number of the contact in question , while “Information” opens the contact details page without having to open the conversation and tap the application bar or context menu to access it. These shortcuts are also present for group conversations, except for the “Call” tab.
Contact profile photo enlargement was beta tested throughout June and is now rolling out to the general public. It is therefore possible that you will have to wait a little before being able to take advantage of this function, as it may take a little time.
