Minister Aurore Bergé is a candidate for re-election in the legislative elections in the 10th constituency of Yvelines. What result can she hope for?
She is one of the ministers to run in the early legislative elections of 2024. Is Aurore Bergé making a risky or measured bet by being a candidate in the election of June 30 and July 7 in the 10th constituency of Yvelines? Does the risk seem reasonable, even slight, for the Minister Delegate in charge of Equality between Men and Women who was elected MP in this constituency in 2017 and 2022? But the situation is completely different after the earthquake caused by the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron.
Aurore Bergé, however, hopes to be reappointed as a deputy and also wishes to see the presidential majority prevail at the national level in order to be able to hope to retain her position within the government. A double necessary condition, but which could be difficult to fulfill. The results of the polls on the legislative elections are not in favor of the presidential camp which is only in third position behind the RN and the left-wing alliance New Popular Front despite a slight increase in voting intentions observed in recent days . When is he in Aurore Bergé’s constituency?
A constituency delighted with the right in 2017
Aurore Bergé managed to get elected in a historically right-wing constituency in 2017 and to keep her seat as a deputy in 2022. The minister’s past within the UMP makes her a candidate compatible with the right despite her belonging to Emmanuel Macron’s party which she joined in 2017. The minister did not have an opponent from the right-wing Les Républicains party in 2017 and had managed to win largely against the various right-wing candidate with 46.63% of the votes in the first round. She confirmed her score in the second round with 64.75% of the votes.
In 2022, on the other hand, the Republicans sent a candidate who, however, did not succeed in recovering the vote of all voters and came third behind Aurore Bergé for the majority (33.43%) and Cédric Briolais for Nupes (22 .04%). The minister then won against the candidate of the old left alliance with 63.27%.
But during the European elections of June 9, it was the National Rally which came out on top in the 10th constituency of Yvelines with 23.79% of the votes, just ahead of the majority and its 18.29%.
The match therefore seems possible between Aurore Bergé and the other candidates, especially since all political families will be represented: the Union of the Left, the National Rally and The Republicans. If the minister seems able to win over the left and the right, the fight could be close with the National Rally if the trends seen during the European elections are confirmed during the next election.
