Anni Evald, chief security officer at the police, to Ystad’s Allehanda.

A police patrol was called late on Midsummer’s Eve to the party venue Öveds Eke in Sjöbo after an alarm that vandalism had occurred, writes Ystad’s Allehanda.

But the case quickly took another turn and escalated.

– The level of intoxication was high and the police have described the situation as very messy, says Anni Evald Ystad’s Allehanda.

Had to escape: “Unpleasant situation”

The patrol on the spot received information that a man was armed with a knife and had chased a person. The two officers were told where the knifeman was and started looking for him.

But instead, the police met an aggressive group – and the case derailed.

– According to the report, they were then met by a number of agitated people and were attacked. Someone tried to take one of the policeman’s guns. At the same time, someone tried to run over the other police officer. The patrol had to reverse and leave the scene, says Anni Evald to the newspaper.

– A lone patrol in the middle of a gang that doesn’t like the police. It became an unpleasant situation for the police officers when they realized that they could not fulfill their mission and were forced to back off.

The police have drawn up an incident report. The chief protection officer tells the local newspaper that the midsummer chaos at Öveds Eke stands out and that one must make sure to offer the police officers support.
