Five people face impaired charges

Norfolk County OPP have charged five people with drinking and driving offenses in separate incidents over the past week.

Officers conducting a RIDE program on Turkey Point Road at 11:58 pm June 15 stopped a vehicle and assessed the driver’s sobriety.

A 44-year-old Ridgeway man was subsequently charged with having more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

On June 16 at 1:40 am Norfolk OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe as part of a RIDE program.

After testing the driver’s sobriety, police charged a 36-year-old Norfolk man with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Following an assessment of the driver’s sobriety, the officer charged a 37-year-old man from Six Nations with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol, having a blood-alcohol level above zero as a novice driver, driving without a license, driving without a valid permit and driving with an open container of liquor.

On July 21, at about 8:53 pm Norfolk OPP officers were dispatched to investigate a two-vehicle collision on Main Street in Port Dover.

No injuries were reported and officers learned one of the vehicles had fled the scene.

OPP officers subsequently located the vehicle on St. Andrew Street in Port Dover.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety, officers charged a 26-year-old Kitchener man with impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and driving with out a license.

Meanwhile, Norfolk OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Cockshutt Road Townsend on June 23 after receiving a 911 call about a possible impaired driver.

The officers assessed the driver’s sobriety and then charged a 55-year-old Thorold man with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

All of the people charged are scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe at a later date.

E-bike stolen in Simcoe

Norfolk OPP are asking for public help in identifying the person or persons who stole an e-bike.

Police were notified of the theft on Redbud Crescent in Simcoe on June 19 at 7:54 am It was determined that sometime overnight, a garage on the property was entered and an e-bike was stolen.

The e-bike is a black and green RBSM Sports bike.

Dirt bike stolen

Norfolk OPP is investigating the theft of a dirt bike from a Brantford Road address in the Windham area.

Police were notified of the theft at 7:11 am June 24 and have determined the dirt bike, a red 2010 Honda CRF25OR, was stolen sometime overnight between June 23 and 24.
