A hiker has been reported missing in the national park Stora Sjöfallet in Lapland.
– It’s about a man who was out on the mountain and then went missing, says Maria Linné, police spokesperson.
A man has disappeared in connection with a mountain hike in the national park Stora Sjöfallet in the municipality of Jokkmokk. It was P4 Norrbotten first to report.
– Now we have a police helicopter that is on its way and then we call the mountain rescue, says Maria Linné, the police’s spokesperson.
Car has been found
The man has been missing since Sunday and already then a search operation was started with a helicopter.
– The focus was then to find a car driven by the man. The reason it was so important was to narrow down the search area, says Maria Linné.
On Monday, the man’s car was found and a major rescue operation with the support of the LSO (Act for the Protection of Accidents) began at 12.40.
