Player wants to show off his barbarian with almost 500,000 lives, immediately causes criticism of the class

A player wanted to boost his character in Diablo 4 to half a million health points and failed in the attempt. The fact that this could even be possible is causing discontent in the community. They say that the game’s class balance is bad and the current changes are absurd.

Where does the discussion come from? Barbarians are currently the strongest class in Diablo 4. Together with hunters, they top the tier list of the best builds in Season 4 and have little competition.

They are so strong because they have many times the life points of other classes, can endure more and also deal more damage. The damage on the character sheet (“paper damage”) far exceeds that of other classes. The numbers are largely due to the fact that barbarians can carry more weapons than all other classes and therefore have more stats at their disposal.

A user on Reddit had a goal in Season 4: to get 500,000 health points. Even with all the potions, battle cries and fully upgraded equipment, he only managed to get a little over 478,000 health points. His journey ends here, but in doing so he sparked a controversy.

This is the criticism: Instead of congratulating the player on their achievement, the players in the thread are getting upset about why such numbers are even possible. Or more precisely, why only barbarians can do such a thing:

I like how barbarians easily have 10-20 times the health pool and damage of other classes, and Blizzard is planning even more buffs for them. #1 game design here.

It was only with the mid-season patch that barbarians became significantly stronger. Although other classes also received a buff, some of them were significantly weaker. Druids, for example, are still at the bottom of the list.

Wizards in a similar condition to the barbarian shown would probably get 18,000 damage and the same amount of health – not even close to half a million. Even some barbarian players are surprised by the new and upcoming changes.

Blizzard buffs all classes, distributes nerfs to the weakest

Patch 1.5.0 is due to be released in the week of June 24th and will, among other things, start the PTR for Season 5. There will also be buffs for all classes. The barbarian is once again at the top of the list when it comes to buffs for many skills.

Even though all other classes are also getting buffs, there is a direct nerf for wizards, for example: Teleport will now have a cooldown of 14 seconds instead of eleven. This is already causing problems, because the skill is not just for movement, but is an important defensive ability. Teleport can trigger barriers or stuns, for example.

In another thread on Reddit, users are already complaining about it and calling the change “salt in the wound.” Wizards already have the worst defense of all classes, and the nerf will only make them worse.

Users now hope that the upcoming PTR will be used to implement the community’s feedback, reverse any nerfs to the wizard and adjust the class balance a little. Strong barbarians are not even the problem, but rather that no other class can keep up: Mid-season patch buffs many classes, but players think two deserve more love
