(Finance) – Second day of ballots for the 105 municipalities called to vote to choose their mayor in the second round of the administrative elections. The main challenges are those of Florence, Bari and Perugia. Also of interest are those of Campobasso, Potenza, Lecce and Caltanissetta. In total, 14 capitals are involved. Today i seats they will remain open until 3pm when the counting of ballots will begin immediately. Meanwhile, based on data published by the Interior Ministry, there has already been a clear decline inturnout on the first day of voting. A decline of seven points compared to the first round when the “territorial” data held up compared to that for the European elections which did not reach the 50% threshold, marking the worst result ever.
For the second shift of the local elections at 11pm, in fact, 37% of those entitled to vote voted, a decrease of around 16 points compared to the first round.
TO Florence the turnout figure is within the national average (28.67%). The candidate Sara Funaro, who obtained 43% in the first round, can count on the wide field with the support of the M5s and the IDV. The center-right candidate Eike Schmidt, who achieved 32.86%, received the support of the ‘reconstituted’ Florentine and Tuscany DC.
However, the turnout was very low Bari (18.53%). Here the PD candidate Vito Leccese, who two weeks ago obtained 48%, challenges Fabio Romito who stopped at 29%. Also in this case the centre-left rallied around Leccese after the agreement reached with Michele Laforgia who in the first round was supported by M5S and Avs.
TO Perugia the turnout figure is the highest among the capitals. Here the comparison between the two candidates for mayor – Vittoria Ferdinandi, centre-left and civic, and Margherita Scoccia, centre-right and civic – is played out on very few votes after the head-to-head of the first round when Ferdinandi barely exceeded her (49%) rival (48.3%).
