After the chaotic plane storm – Uefa increases security

The EC match between Portugal and Turkey on Saturday will be remembered – but not for the result, but because several people managed to get onto the pitch in the middle of the match. The purpose of the plane storms was to get a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Now Uefa announces in another email
The soccer channel that security measures will be taken.

A total of six plane stormers disrupted the match between Portugal and Turkey by rushing up to Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo to get a selfie with the star.

Now Uefa is commenting for the first time on what happened. In an email to Fotbollskanalen, the European Football Association writes that they must review the security at upcoming EC matches.

“Additional security measures will be taken at the arenas to further meet the requirements for the tournament and to prevent incidents like this. For security reasons, we cannot comment on specific measures further,” writes the association.

The people who stormed the pitch will be reported to the police, Uefa also says.

“Every intrusion on the field is a violation of the rules of the arena and it results in rejection from the arena, suspension from all matches in the tournament and a formal criminal complaint regarding intrusion being submitted,” writes the Football Channel.
