In MMORPGs, the rules for weapons are actually clear: warriors fight with swords and shields, mages use a staff, clerics use a club and rogues use a dagger. But the new class in Black Desert has an unusual combination of weapons: the Dosa uses a sword and a tobacco pipe, even though smoking is not allowed these days. The Dosa is coming to Black Desert on July 3rd.
What kind of class is this:
Whoever smokes always has friends … or smoke slaves
What can the class do? The Dosa will use his sword in battle, but with the pipe he can summon “Warriors of Fog” to fight at his side.
I used to smoke a pipe and no warriors ever appeared next to me – but what do I know?
This is what it looks like: In a trailer for Black Desert you can see the Dosa at work and sure enough, when he’s fighting hard, four warriors appear next to him and hammer away at the enemies with him.
The Dosa seems to make quite a fuss and is particularly fond of powerful sword attacks and lots of smoke.
The dosa in the trailer doesn’t really smoke, though. Public tobacco consumption is a sensitive issue, especially in the USA, and has now largely disappeared from pop culture. The fact that so much smoking took place in “Mad Men” was hotly debated in the late 2000s, but the series was also set in the 1960s, when smoking was part of everyday life.
“Finally a male class”
This is how the class is discussed: In the comments on the Dosa on YouTube, there is a cry of joy from the community because after what feels like 500 years, there is a male class again. It also has full sound.
In the MMORPG Black Desert there is a gender lock: each class is automatically assigned to a race and gender.
This is because the South Koreans have a different design philosophy. From their point of view, it is nonsense that there are male and female warriors and that both classes are identical. In Korean MMORPGs, these are two different classes: Black Desert: Genderlock – You can’t go to the sushi shop and expect currywurst
