Belgium took their opening victory in the European Football Championship when they beat Romania 2–0 (1–0).
Youri Tielemans gave Belgium the lead in the second minute of the game. Romelu Lukaku finished superbly in the second half, but the goal was disallowed for offside after video review.
Belgium’s victory was sealed ten minutes before the end by the captain Kevin de Bruyne.
Before the last matches of the first group, the situation in Group E is interesting, as all teams are on three points. Two claim a direct continuation spot and the third one struggles in comparison to the other group threes, of which the best four continue.
The last matches of the group will be played on Wednesday, June 26 at 19:00. Then Belgium will face Ukraine and Romania will face Slovakia.
