The rehabilitation of Countryview Line between St. Clair Road (Highway 40) and Lindsay Road will include widening Countryview Line to include paved shoulders to provide additional space for cyclists, said a Municipality of Chatham-Kent media release.

The implementation of paved shoulders is part of the recommended actions identified in the municipality’s road safety action plan, adopted in November 2023, the release said.

On Monday, Huron Construction will begin the first of three phases of the project, which also includes the replacement of the culverts and catch basins.

The work will require closing Countryview Line from 7 am to 7 pm with the first phase starting Monday between Prince Albert Road and Center Side Road.

The second phase is planned to begin July 2 between St. Clair Road and Prince Albert Road and the third phase is slated to start July 8 between Center Side Road and Lindsay Road and be completed by July 12, weather permitting.

“Motorists are advised to follow construction detour signage during this time as the dates of the closures may change as work progresses,” the release said.

Access to all properties on Countryview Line will be maintained throughout the project.

Pavement resurfacing is scheduled to start following culvert replacements, with a scheduled completion date by the end of August, the release said. One lane on Countryview Line will remain open at all times during the pavement resurfacing and restoration phase of the project.
