Only one person can now be the secret Sith villain

Nothing is as it seems. Trust no one. That’s a lesson the Jedi in The Acolyte have yet to learn. During the High Republic, they feel safe. But we know that the new Star Wars series is heading towards a revelation that could change everything.

In the 4th episode, which you can now stream on Disney+ *, we see the mysterious master of the acolyte Mae (Amandla Stenberg) in action for the first time. However, the big mystery surrounding the identity of the Sith villain has not yet been solved. Who is behind the mask? One character is at the top of the list of suspects after this episode.

Attention, following potential spoilers!

Who is the villain in The Acolyte? After episode 4, it can only be Qimir

At the end of Episode 4, the first confrontation between the Jedi and the masked villain takes place on the planet Khofar. The impressive scene not only proves how powerful this Sith really is. Thanks to it, fans can also exclude numerous suspectswho might be hiding behind the scary grinning mask.

The Jedi meet the Sith villain

After the end of episode 4, the Jedi Sol (Jung-Jae Lee) and Yord (Charlie Barnett) as well as Padawan Jecki (Dafne Keen) and Osha (Amandla Stenberg) can no longer work in secret as Mae’s Sith Masters, just like the already deceased Jedi Indara, Torbin and Kelnacca. Order member Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson) also arouses little suspicion with her skepticism and concern about the conspiracy of a dark power.

Only one person remains. While almost all the important characters have gathered in front of the refuge of the just-killed Wookiee, another character is also nearby – and is conspicuously absent in this scene: Qimir (Manny Jacinto).

Qimir is the Sith Master: The theory makes surprising sense

This episode adds to the evidence that the slow-moving black market dealer may only be pretending to be the only non-Force user in The Acolyte. Is he just playing the role of a henchman for the Sith villain and is he actually the man behind the Jedi murders? The theory makes a surprising amount of sense.

Not even Mae knows her master’s true face. Disguising himself as a subordinate would be the perfect opportunity for the Sith to keep a close eye on his apprentice or acolyte, test her loyalties, and steer her in the right direction without being noticed. And that’s exactly what Qimir does in this episode.

Qimir changes the subject suspiciously quickly when Mae asks him if he has ever seen the master’s face. He also does not go into detail about the relationship between him and the Sith. And unlike Mae, we have Qimir and the masked villain not yet together in a scene get to see.

Perhaps the series is deliberately trying to mislead us. But it is striking that the Sith Master appears shortly after Mae tells Qimir that she wants to abandon her mission and confront the Jedi. Since Qimir knows the way, it would be no obstacle for him to immediately seek out Kelnacca and kill her himself.

Another indication that he is behind the mask: The master’s height and stature match perfectly matches Qimir’s rather slender figure. However, the prerequisite for this theory is that the Sith villain is actually a person we have already seen unmasked in the series.

The Rule of Two: The Acolyte has more than one villain

Whether Qimir is actually the masked Sith Lord could be revealed by The Acolyte in the upcoming fifth episode. And we can be pretty sure that this will not be the last twist in the Star Wars series. Because there may still be another secret villain.

The Rule of Two is one of the foundations of the Sith, established hundreds of years ago by Darth Bane. The rule states that there should always be exactly two Sith in existence at the same time: a master and a student. No more and no less.

And so far we have actually only seen one Sith. Mae herself, as an acolyte, does not count towards the Rule of Two. So there is a chance that her “master” is actually just the student of an even more powerful Sith Lord who has so far been operating in secret.

If The Acolyte has a second villain up its sleeve, then the guessing game will soon enter the next round. If Qimir is a Sith student, who is his master? And has he possibly been undetected the whole time in the series? Suddenly everyone is a suspect again.
