For years there has been a fuss in the sector about operations for congenital heart defects, not only in children but also in adult patients. These treatments are carried out in Leiden, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Groningen. Because the operations occur relatively infrequently and experience, knowledge and quality can deteriorate, it was decided to concentrate these treatments in two places: in Rotterdam and Groningen.
