Officers responded to an assault investigation at about 7:45 am Friday on Grand Avenue West in Chatham
A man had been directed to leave a property but refused, police said. While being escorted off the premises by security he pulled a knife but eventually dropped it, police said.
A 52-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, police said.
It was released with conditions and a July 22 short date.
Employee assaulted at Chatham business
A man was charged after an employee at a Chatham business was assaulted Saturday morning, Chatham-Kent police said.
Officers arrived and located a drunk man nearby, police said.
He was arrested and charged with assault and held at police headquarters until sober, police said.

Smoking sparks $400K house fire
A fire that caused $400,000 damage to a Wheatley-area home early Saturday is being blamed on smoking, Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue said.
Station No. 20 Wheatley and Station No. 19 Tilbury responded just after 2:30 am to a structure fire on Cemetery Road.
Firefighters knocked down the fire. There were no injuries, and the fire started in a bedroom by smoking, the department said.
Door kicked-in, woman charged with mischief
A woman was arrested following a confrontation with a man on Sunday night in Chatham, Chatham-Kent police said.
Officers responded to a disturbance on McNaughton Avenue West just before 7 p.m.
A woman was arguing with a man and kicked in the door to his residence, causing damage, police said.
A 31-year-old Chatham woman is charged with mischief under $5,000.
