The latter was the first time the filmmaker worked with Matt Damon, whom he now directed again in front of the camera 22 years later.
The heist thriller The Instigators brings the duo back together for Apple TV+ ‒ and promises first trailer Once again explosive and comedic action.

In The Instigators, Matt Damon plays the aging father Rory, who teams up with ex-criminal Cobby (Casey Affleck) to steal the funds of a corrupt politician. When their plan goes badly wrong, however, the two not only have to flee from the policebut also from a whole host of figures from the political and criminal underworld. They receive unexpected support from Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau).
Other cast members include Jack Harlow (White Men Can’t Jump), Ron Perlman (City of Lost Children), Alfred Molina (Three Pines) and Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell). Casey Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Chuck MacLean (City on a Hill).
