The Middlesex-London Health Unit said Friday it anticipates Environment Canada will issue an extended heat warning beginning on Monday.
“We’re sending some advance notice because it is possible that (the federal agency). . . will issue the extended heat warning on Monday,” said David Pavletic, the unit’s food safety and health hazards manager.
There are precautions people can take, Pavletic said, including “if you are outdoors, try not to over exert yourself.
“Seek shade and try and stay hydrated as much as you can,” he said. “There are locations within the city to go for cooling centers.”
And make sure to check in on family and friends “who may be more vulnerable to the heat,” Pavletic said. “Make sure they do OK and stay cool.”
