(Finance) – “We have faced with many challengesbut I believe that we are moving towards a disinflationary path which will have its little hiccups here and there, what we call bumps in the road, but we are on a downward path.” President of the ECB, Christine Lagardeon the sidelines of an event in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The European Central Bank’s goal is “to fulfill its mandate and that means keeping inflation under control and that is what we are doing,” Lagarde added.
Today the authorities have to deal “with new types of risks. If the best possible scenario is to work together to prevent these risks, we must also prepare for a second scenario, the governor said, underlining that it will be a world marked by greater levels of uncertainty and volatility, which will create tensions for central banks that we should solve it.”
According to Lagarde “we can find balanced ways to move forward, paths that take into account the new context, but which also allow us to continue to carry out our mandate”.
