Shortly after two in the morning on May 16, the police stop a taxi in Tyresö. In the car sits a 15-year-old boy from Västerås. He is wearing gloves and in his jacket pocket is a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
The final destination of the taxi is the Embassy of Israel at Östermalm in Stockholm.
The 15-year-old is now being charged on suspicion of serious weapons offences.
– I have decided to bring charges of serious weapons crime regarding a person who has been in the process of transporting a loaded weapon to the Israeli embassy, says prosecutor Rasmus Öman.
Instructions via chat
The investigation shows that the boy receives instructions via chat messages about how he should act. A user who calls himself “Avon Barksdale” arranges for taxis to be booked and sends a video from a location in Tyresö where a weapon is to be collected.
“Take the gun quickly. Charge it and sheathe it. The taxi there whenever,” writes the user.
Half an hour later, the 15-year-old is arrested by the police.
– We can see that he receives instructions about where to pick up this weapon. There are others who are suspected of aiding and abetting the crime, but no one else is in custody, says Rasmus Öman.
Three cases – in one day
The day after the 15-year-old boy was arrested, there were two more police operations connected to Tyresö and the Israeli embassy.
On the evening of May 16, the police stopped another taxi on its way to the embassy. A 16-year-old from Tyresö is suspected of serious weapons offenses after the incident.
And at 02:00 on May 17, there was a shooting at the Israeli embassy.
– A 14-year-old is designated as the shooter in that case. But the 14-year-old is not of legal age and is handled by other authorities, says Rasmus Öman.
The Israeli intelligence service Mossad has singled out Iran as the client of attacks against the embassy in Sweden.
The security police in Sweden have confirmed that Iran uses gang criminals to carry out attacks in Sweden, but Säpo does not want to mention any specific cases.
