The heavy rain that moved in over Trollhättan on Wednesday found its way indoors in several places – and 32 alarms about flooding were received by the rescue service. Inside Ica Matmor, the roof gave way.
– It dripped from the ceiling and then it just said bang, says Marie Palmén, who runs the shop with her husband Christian.

– There was simply too much water in too short a time.
Intimate department soaked
The accident happened at the store’s intimate hygiene department, “the best place in the store for a water leak”, according to Christian Palmén.
– It’s not that big of a rush right there, it would have been worse with bread or milk. And the plastic bottles last, he says.
Flooded stormwater well from parking deck
According to Christian Palmén, it was a flooded stormwater well that was the culprit behind the drama.
– Above us there is a parking deck with a flat roof, and it becomes a large area that collects rainwater that runs down wells that go through the house and straight down. In our ceiling there is a water pipe, and when the pressure got too high, the pipe pushed apart, he says.
