Finland’s volleyball women took a step closer to the Silver League championship and promotion to the Golden League next summer.
The Finnish women’s national volleyball team, brimming with confidence, won the first European Silver League final against Portugal 3–0 (25–17, 25–21, 25–11) in Santo Tirso, north of Porto.
The decision of the final series will be seen in Tampere’s Hakametsä on Sunday, June 16 at 15:00 in the second final match.
The champion of the silver league will be decided according to the Eurocup rules, i.e. with the series points of the matches, if the wins are tied 1–1. If the series points are tied at 3–3 after two games, a playoff for the championship will be played after the second final. The champion will be promoted to the Golden League next summer.
The final teams already met in the group stage in Tampere in May, when Finland was better in the set 3–1 (15–25, 28–26, 25–14, 25–20). Finland won all five of their group stage matches.
Portugal is 22nd in the European ranking and five places above Finland.
