Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) is in the starting blocks with his series Those About To Die. And the first trailer promises nothing less than fierce battles in the Roman Empire. Gladiator fights and corruption in the Roman Empire: This is Those About To Die

The series is set in Rome in 79 AD. bread and games rule the Roman Empire. While the center of the empire is experiencing a strong increase in slave labor, the Roman people are entertained by bloody and spectacular gladiator fights and chariot races in the legendary Circus Maximus. But soon a larger arena is to be built, which will demand the people’s bloodlust and the lives of many workers: the Colosseum.

For Those About To Die, Roland Emmerich brought together Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) as Emperor Vespian, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Tenax, Tom Hughes (Victoria) as Titus Flavianus, Sara Martins (Death in Paradise) and Emilio Sakraya (60 Minutes) as Xenon in front of the camera.

When is Those About To Die coming to Amazon?

Those About To Die will consist of 10 episodes and will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers just one day after the US launch. The series will be released in Germany on July 19, 2024 on the streamer.
