The soccer player Pontus Jansson participated in chat conversations with hooligans.
Now Malmö FF has completed its internal investigation, and is punishing the star defender with a number of disciplinary measures.
Among other things, Jansson is being teased as team captain until further notice.
Malmö FF star Pontus Jansson was substituted in the team’s last match and the club launched an internal investigation. This is because of the well-known hooligan chats, where twelve people involved are charged with violent rioting, among other things.
Skåneklubben has been tight-lipped since the prosecutor last week explained Jansson’s involvement in the chats. But in connection with tonight’s members’ meeting, MFF announces that the internal investigation was completed last Friday, where the club looked at how the code of conduct was followed in Jansson’s employment contract.
MFF announces that the club has chosen to “take several disciplinary measures”, including that Jansson will not be captain of the club for the time being. MFF’s regular captain is Anders Christiansen, but when he hasn’t started, Jansson has been captain.
Is remorseful about the situation
Going forward, Jansson will be part of MFF’s operations as usual.
“Pontus Jansson is remorseful about the situation and clearly distances himself from the expressions and values that appear in the preliminary investigation. Malmö FF are confident that he has the association’s best interests at heart and is convinced that he shares the association’s core values,” MFF writes on its website.
Pontus Jansson is not a suspect in the hooligan case. His agent, Max Ahlgren, opened up last week to JO report to the prosecutor. This after it turned out that messages were lost in the preliminary investigation and presented Jansson in a completely different light.
