The police have fired warning shots in connection with a detention in Bandhagen in southern Stockholm.

It happened shortly after an apartment building was shelled in nearby Hökarängen.

– We have started a preliminary investigation into serious weapons crime after we established that there are gunshot wounds to an apartment building in the area, says Daniel Wikdahl, police spokesperson.

There should be no injured person. But the police are looking for several people who were seen running from the scene.

– This is a huge effort with all possible resources: patrols, helicopters and dogs.

Wikdahl says police are searching nearby areas.

– We were going to carry out a check in Bandhagen of a person who was behaving strangely. Then a warning shot was fired. After that, the police got control of the person, who is now in custody.

There are now no criminal suspicions against the detained person.

The subway station in Hökarängen was closed in connection with the police searching for the perpetrators. But at 10 p.m. Greater Stockholm’s local traffic announced that the trains will again stop at the station.

The area near the apartment building is cordoned off and a technical investigation is to be carried out.
