Three simple ingredients and you will have no more weed problems in your garden.

There is nothing more pleasant than sitting on the terrace in summer. But this pleasure can be spoiled when you look down and see weeds taking over the paving stones. Fortunately, there are some good tips for combating this scourge – and not just tips involving expensive and harmful chemicals.

Indeed, chemicals can contaminate soil, water and the surrounding ecosystem. Harmful chemicals can leach into groundwater and contaminate drinking water, threatening the health of humans, animals and plants. They can also have adverse effects on human health, including causing skin irritation, respiratory problems, and in some cases long-term health problems such as cancer.

Additionally, overuse of chemicals can cause weeds to develop resistance, making these products less effective over time. And they can also harm beneficial organisms in the garden, such as earthworms, bees and other pollinators, which play a vital role in ecosystem balance and food production.

An experienced gardener recently shared a tip which shows that you can make your own weed killer with three ingredients you probably already have at home.

To do this, mix a liter of vinegar with a handful of salt and a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and spray it directly on the plant. Dishwashing liquid allows the vinegar to stay on the plant and not leach into the soil. So it can kill weeds. No more chemicals and unnecessary expenses!

But be careful, use this method only on paving stones, paths, courtyards, terraces, and not on weeds in the lawn or if there are other plants or crops nearby. The salt could dehydrate surrounding plants and have a detrimental effect on the soil.
