With the help of neighborhood ambassadors from the neighborhood, the Verwey Jonker Institute conducted a survey among residents on S-dreven. By using residents in the research, a larger group was reached than in previous studies, the municipality says. The results show that there are many mutual tensions:
• Mutual tensions between groups of residents with different cultural backgrounds.
• Mutual tensions between residents and other residents with an addictive background or a psychiatric background.
• Distrust of the government and organizations.
An approach is being developed for each point. Such as ‘Peaceful Neighborhood’ to ensure that residents can better deal with conflicts and that rules of life are drawn up. In addition, the ‘Thuis in de Wijk’ project is being started to better support psychiatric patients. An approach to improve distrust of the Government is in the making. One part is the start of the project drinking coffee with the local police officer. That starts after the summer.
