5 hidden features in your PC you should start using

1. Clean files automatically

Deleting old files and freeing up disk space on your PC is important to keeping your computer fast and useful – but not very fun. Fortunately, there is a feature in Windows that can do that for you.

The function is called Storage Sense and automatically removes files you don’t need, usually things you put in the Recycle Bin or unnecessary temporary files.

You can also configure Storage Sense to delete more files, such as items in the Downloads folder or OneDrive.

To enable Storage Sense:

1. Navigate to Settings –> System –> Storage.

2. Turn on Storage Sense.

2. Focus mode

Focus is a new feature that was introduced in Windows 11. It’s good to use when you want to minimize distractions and focus a little extra on your work or something else important.

When Focus is activated, you receive, among other things, no notifications or warnings from apps in the Taskbar, and Do Not Disturb is activated.

You can decide for yourself how long Focus should be on, and you keep track of the time through a focus timer that appears on the screen.

Here’s how to activate focus mode:

1. Navigate to Settings –> System –> Focus.

2. Tap Start Focus Session.

3. Arrange your windows faster

Arranging windows on your PC’s screen can be cumbersome – but there’s a relatively new feature that makes it easier.

For example, if you want to have two windows up next to each other or quickly enlarge or reduce a window, there is a convenient shortcut that means you don’t have to move your windows manually.

Here’s how to arrange your windows faster:

Press the Windows key and one of the arrows on the keyboard at the same time.

Pressing the left or right arrow will automatically halve your window to the corresponding side of the screen.

If you press the up or down arrow, you can either halve the window at the top or bottom of the screen, alternatively enlarge or reduce the screen according to the toolbar.

4. Get more options for screenshots

Have you ever wanted to screenshot a specific part of a page, or maybe just the window you have open? There is a built-in feature that can help you with that.

The feature gives you several screenshot options at the top center of the screen. When you take the screenshot, it is automatically copied to your clipboard so you can paste it wherever you want.

Here’s how to get more screenshot options:

Press the Windows key, Shift and S at the same time.

If you just want to take a simple screenshot, just press the Windows key and Print Screen at the same time.

5. View clipboard history and save important clipboards

If you’re having trouble keeping track of everything you’ve copied to the clipboard, there’s a feature that lets you view your clipboard history.

Here you can copy objects you previously copied – and attach the objects you usually copy often.

The history is also saved if you log in on another PC, which can be convenient if you want to copy something from one computer to another.

Here’s how to access your clipboard history:

Press the Windows key and V at the same time, alternatively navigate to Settings –> System –> Clipboard.
