The Athletics EC has been very chaotic so far.
Now the star coach Yannick Tregaro goes on the attack.
“Someone has to put a stop to this,” he writes angrily on Instagram.
The start of the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome has been extremely chaotic. Sweden has already filed several protests after blue-yellow athletes were affected by organizers’ mistakes.
Chaos at the EC
First missed Henrik Larsson medal in the 100 meter final where an Italian runner should probably have been disqualified for a false start. Then it was a two-hour chaos for Erik Erlandsson with several decisions back and forth after a finish photo, but in the end he earned a place in the 200m final.
– Had Erik not been allowed to run, I would have lost confidence in the organization, said the irritated national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist.

One who has now lost all confidence is the well-deserved athletics coach Yannick Tregaro. He is the trainer for the triple jumper Gabriel Wallmark who made his championship debut but unfortunately missed the final in three stages.
Tregaro’s Wrath
But sensationally, the Italian succeeded Tobias Bocchi go to the final, even though he was five centimeters away from the last final place. However, after an Italian protest, due to problems with the measuring instruments during the qualification, Bocchi was nevertheless given a place in the final.

Tregaro is now raging against the clear cheating from the organizing country Italy which favors its own athletes in the jury decisions. The Swedish coach is now attacking both the Italians and the European Athletics Federation after all the chaos, see the picture below.
“It’s not okay to give yourself advantages so obviously. Someone has to put a stop to this. It doesn’t seem like team managers can access the problem. When the jury is corrupt, where do you turn?”, writes a furious Tregaro on Instagram.

Also during the first day of the athletics EC, an Italian runner benefited Elena Carraro, who received a free place in the semi-finals. Even though her time was not enough to advance from the qualifier.
