Football: Piteå broke the nightmare streak – after Vittsjö’s unfortunate own goal

Piteå won the Swedish Cup this year, but things have been tough in the women’s league.

On Sunday, the team took only their second win of the season. Vittsjö was defeated at home 1-0 – after an unfortunate own goal to say the least.

Piteå sent a high free kick into the penalty area and the Vittsjö player van den Bulk headed the ball back.

The goalkeeper did not seem prepared for the header and the ball found its way into the goal.

With the victory, Piteå climbs to tenth place and pushes AIK down to a negative qualifying spot.

– We play well and control the game from the start. Then you have to be lucky sometimes with certain balls that roll in even if you don’t think so, says Piteå’s Tuva Skoog in Viaplay.

Vittsjö is still eighth in the table.
