Frederiksen after the attack: “Go and vote”

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) was forced to cancel her last day of campaigning. Now she is urging her compatriots on social media to go and vote in the EU elections, after the attack she was subjected to last Friday.

In a statement, Frederiksen says: “Today all votes are counted equally. It is one of the most beautiful things about an election day. That is why I also hope that you all go down and make your voice heard”.

It was on Friday at Kultorvet in central Copenhagen that Frederiksen was attacked by a drunken man, she was taken to Rigshospitalet in the Danish capital after the incident and received minor neck injuries. The man is in custody.

– I cannot agree that I have any disagreement with the Prime Minister’s views. I think she is a really good prime minister, he explained via a Polish interpreter in the witness stand during the custody hearing, according to Danish TV 2.
