Why you should sell your broken phone Get paid

According to a study by the European Economic and Social Committee, 700 million unused mobile phones are sitting in drawers around Europe. Regardless of whether you have an unused or broken mobile phone, it can do better than lying in a drawer, says Therese Almqvistmarketing manager at Refurbed.

In an interview with News24 she tells you what you can do to get money for your old mobile phone.

This is what you need to do before you sell your mobile

Before you sell your phone, it’s a good idea to make sure that photos and other things you want to keep are backed up. It is possible to save photos and data in various cloud functions.

To ensure that everything is deleted on the old mobile, you can factory reset it.

– It is very important to check before you sell the phone if it is locked to a network operator, so-called SIM/net-lock. If it is, contact your carrier and they can help you unlock the phone. Also make sure that the phone is not blocked, if it is, for example, reported as stolen or lost, the person who buys the phone will not be able to do anything with it, and you will probably get it back, says Almqvist.

That’s why you should sell your broken phone

You can either sell your phone directly to a private person or you can hand it in to a store. And if you choose to turn it in to a store, you have a chance to earn a penny.

– It differs a little from where you choose to sell it, many also accept broken mobile phones. They can either be recycled, or some parts can be reused and given life in a new product. Overall, the norm is to accept mobile phones in any condition in order to take advantage of the available resources. It may pay to check around a bit with different companies when you are selling your mobile, to see if they accept the condition it is in and where you can get the most value for it.

She continues:

– In the end, it is important to make use of existing resources, so in addition to being able to get paid, you are doing something good for the environment and contributing to reduced carbon dioxide emissions and reduced electronic waste.
