One person was killed in an early morning fire at a residence on John Pound Road in Tillsonburg.
A neighbor called 911 at just before 1 am Saturday after becoming aware of the fire. The neighbor was met by thick smoke after entering the home’s garage.
“Upon arrival, officers observed heavy smoke and firefighters found an individual in the front room who was pronounced deceased despite life-saving efforts,” OPP Const. Jonathan Bueckert said in a media release on Saturday night.
The fire remains under investigation, but police say the cause has been deemed not suspicious.
Oxford County OPP have secured the scene for the investigation.
