The cars may have an error in the center screen that causes the speedometer not to be displayed.
According to Volvo’s PR manager Magnus Holst, around 5,000 cars in Sweden are affected.
The Volvo EX30 does not have a traditional speedometer behind the steering wheel, instead the speed is shown in a larger screen to the right of the driver and it is this that can go into a test mode when the car starts. In the test mode, the speed or other important information is not displayed. To fix the error, a software update is required.
Holst tells Carup that the update can be carried out without visiting a workshop, if the customer so wishes.
The Volvo EX30 began to be delivered in January this year. So far, 35,000 cars have reached the roads, but the recall thus affects 72,000 manufactured cars.
