The Oosterspoorweg was opened on June 10, 1874, between Amsterdam and Amersfoort. Two years later, the route between Amersfoort and Zutphen was also put into use. In addition to the opening of the Oosterspoorweg, a branch was also opened in 1874, which ran from Hilversum to Utrecht. That track ended at the Maliebaan station, now the Railway Museum in Utrecht, and at Lunetten. With the opening of all that new track, the stations of Baarn, Hilversum and Amersfoort were also opened.
