Amazon presses the reset button: New World becomes an action RPG

Amazon released a new trailer for New World released. New World: Aeternum is not just a console version of the MMO, but also brings new content to the game. You can find out what it is at MeinMMO.

Amazon Games released a trailer for New World: Aeternum at the Summer Games Fest and, as our MMO expert Karsten Scholz suspected, it is a console version of the game.

Of course, that’s not all, because Aeternum also brings some new content and major changes to the MMO. This even goes so far that Aeternum is evolving from an MMORPG into an action RPG.

The MMORPG becomes an action RPG

What is changing? At a presentation to which MeinMMO was also invited, Amazon Games presented more information about the new content in Aeternum in addition to the trailer. The update is primarily intended to adapt and improve the gameplay and user interface for the console. The combat system is intended to be much more action-packed and adapted to controller control.

  • Better target locking
  • Aim Assist
  • Virtual cursors
  • Accessibility
  • Camera should also change
  • The polished combat system will get new animations
  • The content will also be adapted for solo players
  • Amazon Games itself calls the game an action RPG in the wake of this announcement. The changes to the combat will of course also be available on the PC. At the presentation, Amazon Games called the new New World: Aeternum an open-world action RPG with MMO elements (such as a player-controlled economy).

The gaming experience for newcomers is also set to be improved. The leveling system is to be adjusted and the main quest is to be given a cinematic focus. The company says it has looked closely at player feedback for this.

There is also a lot of new things for PC gamers

If you want to use a controller on the PC, you can do so with Aeternum. In addition, new content will be added to the game that will be available for all platforms through crossplay:

  • The first 10-player raid
  • Extensive PvP zone
  • Solo Trials in the Endgame
  • Character archetypes
  • New dialogue system and new cutscenes
  • Improved story
  • Improved leveling system
  • New World: Aeternum is scheduled to be released digitally on October 15, 2014 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. PC players who own the Rise of the Angry Earth DLC will receive all Aeternum content for free.

Anyone who logs into the game by October 14, 2024 will also receive a free mount. What do you think of the announcement? Can this lure you back into the game? Write it to us in the comments. Since its successful release, New World has been struggling with player numbers: The MMORPG New World is currently struggling with declining player numbers on Steam, setting a new negative record
