(Finance) – “The message we send as young professionals is to increasingly identify ourselves as guardians of legality. We work alongside institutions and the judiciary, playing a fundamental role in combating organized crime.” He stated it Francesco Cataldi, national president of the National Union of young accountants and accounting experts, during the fourth edition of the award “United for legality” ppromoted by the Union and took place at the property confiscated from the Camorra Casa Gio (La Gloriette) in Naples. “Today’s – highlights Cataldi – it was also an opportunity to compare two important regulations such as the Business Crisis Code and the Anti-Mafia Code which, despite having different purposes, must communicate with each other to grasp their common aspects”.
The role of accountants was also reiterated by Eraldo Turi, president of the Neapolitan Order of Accountants: “We are a guardian of legality. Accountants fight against crime with all their strength and make sure they are always within the line that demarcates legality from crime: we never look the other way, but we intervene promptly every time we register the first signs of alarm”.
Many were awarded during the Neapolitan edition of the award, as underlined by Carolina Rumboldt, delegate for Economic Criminal Law of the UNGDCEC National Council: “For the fourth edition of the award, the first time in Naples, we chose an asset confiscated from the Camorra which has now become a symbol of the fight against organized crime. The winners are all people who have been at the forefront of this battle for years, such as Francesca D’Onofrio, president of the L’Orsa Maggiore social coop which is entrusted with the property of Posillipo, Teresa Areniello, president of the prevention measures section of the Court of Naples , Luigi Ferrucci, president of the National Fai, Rosario D’Angelo, regional coordinator of the Fai and Don Antonio Loffredo, former president of the San Gennaro Foundation”.
Enrico Lombardoco-delegate for economic criminal law of the UNGDCEC National Council, added that “the level of scientific discussion between operators in the sector, magistrates and professionals, was very high and various points for reflection emerged for possible future proposals for legislative changes that help to better manage the companies under seizure”.
Satisfaction expressed by Elisabetta Garzo, President of the Court of Naples: “That the study day takes place in an asset confiscated from the Camorra is a strong signal of the State’s commitment against crime. The fight against crime is very difficult, I have been involved in this field for decades having held various positions. Today there is greater awareness on the part of the community of the importance of respecting the law and this is already an important fact”.
She focused on the dangers of criminal infiltration into the entrepreneurial fabric Teresa Areniello, president of the criminal prevention measures section of the Court of Naples: “We have an economic initiative, especially in the South but not only, highly polluted by the presence of crime. The objective is to remove businesses from crime but without closing them: we need to intervene in the management methods once the criminal component has been eradicated, preventing citizens from thinking that where the State intervenes there is management incompetence”.
For Bruno Corda, director of the Agency for assets seized and confiscated from organized crime “a strong message comes from Naples not only of reappropriation of criminal assets by the State but also in terms of the recovery of companies that are able to continue their lives once rehabilitated . In this work, professionals are invaluable in supporting our Agency.”
Livia De Gennaro, judge of the Insolvency Procedures section of the Court of Naples underlined the importance of “an initiative which is an important example of a great public functionality of an asset previously managed by the Camorra which today has a strong social value in favor of minors and disabled people”.
