Police blotter: Norfolk police seek shoplifting suspects

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify two individuals alleged to be involved in a shoplifting incident.

Norfolk OPP were called to investigate a theft from a Norfolk Street South business on Tuesday, June 4.

Officers determined that two individuals entered the premises between 4 and 5 pm on Saturday, June 1 and concealed several items on their person before leaving without making payment.

The value of the stolen merchandise is estimated at $2,800

The male suspect is described as a Caucasian male of medium build, wearing a white baseball cap, black shirt, black pants with white stripes, and black shoes.

The female suspect is described as Caucasian with a heavy build and brown hair, wearing sunglasses, a black dress and vest, and black shoes.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122.

Driver facing charges

A 34-year-old Norfolk County man is facing impaired driving and drug charges.

Norfolk OPP received a call just after 4:30 pm on Wednesday, June 5 from a citizen who suspected a driver on Colborne Street North in Simcoe may be impaired.

Officers located the vehicle and, after conducting a sobriety assessment, arrested the driver.

A quantity of suspected cocaine was discovered during a search of the driver and vehicle.

The accused is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine.
