RFI new Milano Mind stop agreement signed

(Finance) – The railway stop is born Milan MIND, in the section of the line Milan-Varese between Rho Fiera and Milan Certosa with the aim of responding to the renewed mobility needs generated by urban transformations.

To achieve this objective, an agreement has been signed implementing agreement between the Italian Railway Network (lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group), Municipality of Milan, Lombardy Region and Arexpo. A new model of metropolitan mobility which is estimated to allow 45,000 thousand people, every day, to reach both the new MIND Milano Innovation District and the Cascina Merlata neighborhood.

The new stop of the Milanese railway system – explains the note – it will be carried out in a continuously growing strategic area cwhich currently has 10 thousand visitors a day and concentrates many activities with great attractive power including the new Galeazzi hospital (about 600 beds), the new scientific campus of the State University of Milan (where over 23 thousand people will arrive starting from 2027 between students, teachers and researchers) and the Human Technopole research centre. To the south of the station extends the Crenellated Bloom, a space dedicated to shopping. The station will therefore represent a vital hub for public transport and will facilitate travel in the area, with an expected traffic of 12.6 million users per year.

“There making this stop is very important to us – declared the CEO of RFI Gianpiero Strisciuglio – Milano MIND will be an example of a station that will have functions and services designed for an urban context in full transformation, very different from the current one”.

The overall cost is 33.5 million eurosof which 10 million euros paid by the Municipality of Milan and 23.5 million euros financed through the Investment Program Agreement between MIT and RFI relating to the City Hubs and metropolitan lines.

The new stop “is part of the complex of the railway system of the Milan hub and is part of RFI’s commitments for the infrastructural strengthening of the Milanese stations: Greco Pirelli, Romolo, San Cristoforo, Porta Romana, Villapizzone, the new stop of Tibaldi-Bocconi recently activated, which is accompanied by a plan for the redevelopment and completion of the accessibility of all the other stations”.
