National team icon Caroline Seger, 39, is one of Sweden’s greatest players of all time. But the career begins to suffer towards its end.
And soon it will be over.
Now the FC Rosengård player announces that she is putting her shoes on the shelf this winter, after the current season in the women’s league is over.
– Every arena I visit now is the last time. My contract expires in December, and then it’s over, says Seger SVT.
She is asked how it feels:
– Very strange. It’s hard to feel fully because we’re in the middle of the season and everything feels fun and it’s going well. Then it almost feels like we’re driving a little more.
– That’s how it’s always been and will probably always be like that if you don’t put a stop to it yourself.
Seger is the Swedish women’s national team’s all-time leading scorer with 240 caps. On the merit lists there are two WC bronzes and two Olympic silvers.
The 39-year-old has, in addition to Rosengård, also played for teams such as Linköpings FC, Tyresö, PSG, and Lyon, among others.
