A week ago, a 29-year-old police officer died when a terrorist stabbed him and six others in a market in Mannheim. The attacker had come to Germany ten years ago at the age of 15 with his parents from Afghanistan.
The actual target of the attacker was a politician opposed to Islamism, i.e. extreme Islam, who held an information attack in Mannheim’s central square.
The case has once again raised the debate on immigration in Germany. For example, the Chancellor Olaf Scholz would like to expel the serious to crimes guilty Afghans and Syrians from the country, even if their homelands are unsafe for them.
Muslim organizations and representatives of the Afghan community have also condemned the act.
– After such acts, there is always a danger that all Muslims will be lumped together instead of having a conversation with them, the chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany ZMD Aiman A. Mazyek said in an interview with on Friday.

Mazyek says he understands Scholz’s deportation ideas. In his opinion, Germany and other European countries should choose more precisely who they allow to move to their territory.
– We should only accept people whose contribution and commitment to the well-being of our countries we are convinced of. It’s a different matter, of course, for people who come here for humanitarian reasons or because of political persecution in danger of their lives, says Mazyek.
– Germany and the whole of Europe should plan their immigration policy to better match modern times. This means that not everyone can enter.
