Mathias Penguilly: Le Coreper: Without spoiling the surprise too much, I can already tell you that it is one of the most mysterious places of power in Brussels… And when we talk about the European Union, we often call on Isabelle Ory, correspondent for L ‘Express in Belgium. Isabelle, what does this acronym mean?
Isabelle Ory: Coreper is the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the European Union. It is a body that is relatively unknown but it is included in the treaties. And it is made up of 27 ambassadors (one per member country). It is an emanation of the “Council”, the institution which brings together the 27 States and it has a very important role in the making of the law, here in Brussels.
